Convert JPG (JPEG) photos and images to PNG for editing, design tools and forms that only take PNG. The conversion runs in your browser.
Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.
How to convert JPG to PNG
- 1Drop one or more JPG or JPEG images into the box above.
- 2Leave PNG selected. PNG is lossless, so there's no quality setting.
- 3Select Convert, then download the PNGs one at a time or as a ZIP.
What you get
- One PNG per image, with the same name and a .png ending.
- Every pixel of the JPG is kept exactly. Further edits and saves won't lose any more quality.
- The PNG is usually two to five times the size of the JPG, because PNG stores every pixel without loss.
- Photos come out the right way up, and camera details and GPS location are not copied into the PNG.
- Up to 5 images at a time without an account, 10 with a free account and 30 with Pro.
Limits
- Without an account: files up to 25 MB, 5 files at a time.
- With a free account: up to 50 MB, 10 files at a time.
- Very large files depend on your device's memory, because the work happens in your browser.
What happens to your file
Your file never leaves your device. The conversion runs in your browser using code from our site, and we don't receive the file, its name or anything inside it. How we handle files.
JPG to PNG: common questions
- Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
- No. It stops further loss, but it can't bring back detail the JPG already threw away. Convert when software needs PNG, or before you edit an image several times.
- Will the background become transparent?
- No. A JPG has no transparency to carry over, so the background stays whatever colour it was. Removing a background is a different job that needs an editor.
- Why is the PNG so much bigger?
- JPG discards detail to stay small; PNG never does. For photos, the PNG can be several times larger. The results table shows the exact size of each file.
- Are my images uploaded?
- No. Your browser does the conversion, so the images don't reach our server.
