Resize and compress images
Resize photos to exact pixels or under a file size, in bulk, with presets you can save.
Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.
Resize and compress images in short
Add one or more images: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or AVIF, then pick a preset, or set a width, height and maximum file size such as 200 KB, then resize, check each file's new dimensions and size, and download them or a ZIP. It's free, there's no sign-up, and it runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.
How to use Resize and compress images
- 1Add one or more images: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or AVIF.
- 2Pick a preset, or set a width, height and maximum file size such as 200 KB.
- 3Resize, check each file's new dimensions and size, and download them or a ZIP.
Good to know
- With a maximum file size, quality is lowered only as far as needed. If that isn't enough and you haven't fixed the dimensions, the image is also made smaller, down to 640 px on the long side.
- Presets you save, including the file-name pattern, stay in this browser. Clearing site data removes them.
- Pad to exact size centres the whole image on a white or transparent background, so every product photo in a grid comes out the same shape.
- Photos are turned upright using the camera's orientation tag, and the saved files carry no EXIF data or GPS location.
- This tool runs in your browser. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

Resize and compress images: common questions
- Is Resize and compress images free?
- Yes. Resize and compress images is free and works without an account, for images up to 25 MB, 5 at a time. A free account raises that to 50 MB and 10 at a time.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. Resize and compress images runs in your web browser, so the file is read on your own device and never sent to ConvertFile.
- How do I reduce a JPG to 200 KB?
- Add the photo, type 200 in Max file size (KB) and select Resize. Quality is lowered step by step until the file fits; if it still doesn't at quality 40, and you left width and height blank, the photo is also made smaller, down to 640 px on the long side. The results table shows the final size and dimensions.
- Can I resize lots of product photos to the same size?
- Yes. Add up to 30 images at once with Pro (5 without an account), set a width and height, and choose Pad to exact size so every photo lands on the same square or rectangle without cropping. Save the settings as a preset, with a file-name pattern like {name}-2048, and they're one click away next time.
- Where are my presets saved?
- In this browser, on this device. They aren't uploaded, so they won't appear on another computer, and clearing this site's data removes them.
- Does Resize and compress images work on Mac, Windows, Android and iPhone?
- Yes. It runs in any modern web browser, with nothing to install. Very large files work best on a desktop or laptop, because in-browser tools use your device's memory.
