PNG to WebP converter

Convert PNG product shots, logos and screenshots to WebP for a faster website. You see the size before and after for every file, and can compare quality side by side before downloading.

Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.

How to convert PNG to WebP

  1. 1Drop one or more PNG images into the box above.
  2. 2Leave WebP selected and pick a quality. 80 suits most web images.
  3. 3Select Convert, check the saving and the Compare view, then download the WebPs or a ZIP.

What you get

  • One WebP per image, with the same name and a .webp ending.
  • Transparency is kept, so product cut-outs and logos still sit on any background.
  • The results table shows each file's size before and after, and the percentage change.
  • Saving WebP works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. If your browser can't, the tool tells you before you convert.
  • Up to 5 images at a time without an account, 10 with a free account and 30 with Pro.

Limits

  • Without an account: files up to 25 MB, 5 files at a time.
  • With a free account: up to 50 MB, 10 files at a time.
  • Very large files depend on your device's memory, because the work happens in your browser.

What happens to your file

Your file never leaves your device. The conversion runs in your browser using code from our site, and we don't receive the file, its name or anything inside it. How we handle files.

PNG to WebP: common questions

How much smaller will my images be?
It depends on the image. Photos and product shots saved as PNG often shrink by more than half, because PNG stores them without loss. Flat graphics and screenshots shrink less. The results table shows the real number for each file.
Can I check the quality before I download?
Yes. After converting, select Compare next to any file and drag the divider across the image to see the original and the WebP side by side.
Do all browsers show WebP?
Every current browser displays WebP, including Safari on iPhone. Creating WebP is different: this tool needs Chrome, Edge or Firefox to save it.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Your browser does the conversion, so the images don't reach our server.
