Increase or decrease the volume of an audio file
Change Volume makes an MP3 or other audio file louder or quieter. Boost a quiet voice recording, lower a track that's too loud next to others, or set it to anything from silent up to four times as loud.
The change is applied evenly to the whole file and saved in the format you choose, right in your browser.
Change volume in short
Choose an audio file, then set the volume, from silent to four times as loud, then pick the format and download. It's free, there's no sign-up, and it runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

Good to know
- Large boosts can make loud parts distort. Listen to the result before you use it.
- The first time you use an audio or video tool, your browser downloads our 31 MB processing engine. It's kept for next time, so later runs start straight away.
- This tool runs in your browser. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

Change volume: common questions
- How do I make an MP3 louder?
- Choose the file, raise the volume above 100% and save. 150–200% is usually enough.
- Why does the louder file sound distorted?
- Boosting pushes loud peaks past the maximum level, which clips them. Use a smaller boost, or the Equaliser's Loudness preset for a fuller sound without as much clipping.
- Can I change the volume of a video?
- Yes, with Change video volume, which keeps the picture as it is.
- Is Change volume free?
- Yes. Change volume is free, works without an account and adds no watermark, for files up to 500 MB. Pro raises that to 2 GB.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. Change volume runs in your web browser, so the file is read on your own device and never sent to ConvertFile.
- Does Change volume work on Mac, Windows, Android and iPhone?
- Yes. It runs in any modern web browser, with nothing to install. Very large files work best on a desktop or laptop, because in-browser tools use your device's memory.
