Merge PDF

Join PDFs, scans and photos into one PDF, in the order you choose.

Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.

Merge PDF in short

Select two or more PDFs, drag them into the order you want, select Merge and download the combined file. Merging runs in your browser, so the PDFs are never uploaded. Pages keep their size and rotation, and links between pages of the same file keep working. Bookmarks, document titles and fillable form fields from the originals are not carried over, so fill in forms before you merge.

How to use Merge PDF

  1. 1Add two or more files: PDFs, or photos and scans as JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC.
  2. 2Drag the file cards into the order you want, and turn any sideways photo with its rotate button.
  3. 3Select Merge, check the page-by-page preview, then download the combined file.

Good to know

  • Each image becomes one A4 page, turned to match the photo, with a 10 mm margin. For other page sizes, use JPG and PNG to PDF first.
  • Bookmarks (outlines) from the source files are not carried over.
  • Form fields show their filled-in values but are no longer fillable, so fill in forms before merging.
  • Existing digital signatures are invalidated, because the file is rewritten.
  • This tool runs in your browser. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

What a merge keeps, tested

We merged a 4-page sample lease (with four bookmarks, a link from page 1 to the signature page, two filled-in form fields and a signature field) with a 3-page text document.

Limits

  • Without an account: up to 5 PDFs per merge, each up to 25 MB, and up to 150 pages in the merged file.
  • With a free account: up to 10 PDFs, each up to 50 MB, and up to 400 pages in total.
  • Large files use your device's memory, so merges of several hundred pages are more reliable on a laptop or desktop than on a phone.
  • To combine more files than the limit, merge them in batches and then merge the results.

What happens to your file

Merge PDF runs in this browser tab. Your PDF is read and rewritten on your own device and handed back as a download; it is never sent to ConvertFile. We record only that the tool was used (its name and whether it finished), never file names, sizes or contents. Closing the tab discards everything.

If something goes wrong

One of my files says it's password-protected
Merge can't open encrypted PDFs. Use Unlock PDF with the password first, then merge the unlocked copy.
A file says it couldn't be read
The file is damaged or isn't really a PDF. Open it in a PDF reader and save or print it to a new PDF, then try again.
My form can't be filled in after merging
Merging keeps what's typed in each field but not the fields themselves. Fill in and save the form first, then merge.
The signature shows as invalid
Certificate-based signatures cover the exact bytes of the original file, and merging writes a new file. Merge first and sign the combined document, or send the signed file separately.

Guides

Merge PDF: common questions

Is Merge PDF free?
Yes. Merge PDF is free and works without an account, for files up to 25 MB and 150 pages. A free account raises that to 50 MB and 400 pages.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Merge PDF runs in your web browser, so the file is read on your own device and never sent to ConvertFile.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
Up to 5 files per merge without an account, or 10 with a free account. To combine more, merge in batches and then merge the results.
Are bookmarks and form fields kept when merging?
No. Bookmarks (outlines) and document titles from the source files are not carried over. Form fields keep their filled-in values on the page but are no longer fillable, so fill in forms before merging. Existing digital signatures become invalid because the file is rewritten. Links between pages of the same file keep working.
Can I merge my CV and certificates into one PDF?
Yes. Add your CV as a PDF and your certificates as PDFs or photos (JPG, PNG or HEIC from a phone), drag them into order, and turn any sideways photo with its rotate button. After merging you see every page in order before you download. If your CV is a Word file, run it through Word to PDF first.
Does Merge PDF work on Mac, Windows, Android and iPhone?
Yes. It runs in any modern web browser, with nothing to install. Very large files work best on a desktop or laptop, because in-browser tools use your device's memory.
