Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.

How to convert JPG to WebP

  1. 1Drop one or more JPG images into the box above.
  2. 2Leave WebP selected and pick a quality. 80 suits most product photos.
  3. 3Select Convert, check the saving and the Compare view, then download the WebPs or a ZIP.

What you get

  • One WebP per image, with the same name and a .webp ending, ready to upload to your shop or CMS.
  • The results table shows each file's size before and after, and the percentage change.
  • Camera details and GPS location are not copied into the WebP.
  • Saving WebP works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. If your browser can't, the tool tells you before you convert.
  • Up to 5 images at a time without an account, 10 with a free account and 30 with Pro.

Limits

  • Without an account: files up to 25 MB, 5 files at a time.
  • With a free account: up to 50 MB, 10 files at a time.
  • Very large files depend on your device's memory, because the work happens in your browser.

What happens to your file

Your file never leaves your device. The conversion runs in your browser using code from our site, and we don't receive the file, its name or anything inside it. How we handle files.

JPG to WebP: common questions

How much smaller is WebP than JPG?
Usually 25 to 35% at similar quality, which is the range Google gives for lossy WebP. A JPG that was already heavily compressed may barely shrink, and the results table will show that rather than hide it.
Can I check the quality before I download?
Yes. After converting, select Compare next to any file and drag the divider across the image to see the JPG and the WebP side by side.
Is WebP safe to use for product images?
Yes, for display on a website: every current browser shows WebP. Keep your original JPGs for marketplaces, print and anything that asks specifically for JPG.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Your browser does the conversion, so the photos don't reach our server.
