Rotate a video that's sideways or upside down
Phones sometimes save a video sideways, especially if the phone was turned after recording started. Rotate Video turns it 90° right, 90° left or 180° so it plays the right way up.
The rotation is applied to the picture itself, not just a note in the file, so it plays correctly in every player, on every website and in every app, including the ones that ignore rotation flags.
Rotate video in short
Choose a video, then pick 90° right, 90° left or 180°, then select Rotate and download the MP4. It's free, there's no sign-up, and it runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

Good to know
- The rotation is applied to the picture itself, so it plays the right way up in every player and on every website.
- The first time you use an audio or video tool, your browser downloads our 31 MB processing engine. It's kept for next time, so later runs start straight away.
- Processing happens on your device, so speed depends on your computer. A minute of 1080p video takes roughly one to three minutes on a recent laptop; phones are slower.
- This tool runs in your browser. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

Rotate video: common questions
- How do I rotate a video and save it?
- Choose the video, pick 90° right, 90° left or 180°, select Rotate and download. The rotated video plays upright everywhere.
- Why is my phone video sideways on my computer?
- Phones often store a rotation flag rather than turning the picture. Some players ignore it. Rotating here bakes the turn into the picture.
- Can I rotate by a small angle to straighten it?
- Not yet. Rotation is in 90° steps.
- Does rotating reduce quality?
- It re-encodes the video once, which is a small loss. The resolution stays the same.
- Is Rotate video free?
- Yes. Rotate video is free, works without an account and adds no watermark, for files up to 500 MB. Pro raises that to 2 GB.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. Rotate video runs in your web browser, so the file is read on your own device and never sent to ConvertFile.
- Does Rotate video work on Mac, Windows, Android and iPhone?
- Yes. It runs in any modern web browser, with nothing to install. Very large files work best on a desktop or laptop, because in-browser tools use your device's memory.
