Rotate PDF

Turn all pages or just the ones you pick.

Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.

Rotate PDF in short

Add a PDF, click the pages you want to turn (all of them are selected to start with), choose 90° clockwise, 180° or 90° anticlockwise, and download. Rotation is stored as a setting on each page, so nothing is redrawn: text stays selectable, images keep every pixel, and bookmarks, links and form fields carry on working. It runs in your browser and the file isn't uploaded.

How to use Rotate PDF

  1. 1Add a PDF.
  2. 2Choose pages and a rotation.
  3. 3Download the rotated file.

Good to know

  • Rotation is stored as page metadata, so text and images are not re-rendered.
  • Page numbers mean physical positions in the file: page 1 is the first page, whatever number is printed on it.
  • This tool runs in your browser. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

Turning one sideways page in a 4-page lease

Scanned contracts often have one landscape page that comes out sideways. We rotated only page 2 of a sample lease by 90° and compared the files.

Rotating all four pages by 180° gave the same 10.0 KB. The file shrinks slightly because it's saved in a more compact layout, not because anything is lost. Measured on 1 November 2026 by running this page's code on sample documents we generated ourselves.

Limits

  • Without an account: files up to 25 MB and 150 pages. With a free account: 50 MB and 400 pages.
  • Rotation turns whole pages in steps of 90°. It can't straighten a scan that is a few degrees crooked.
  • Rotating rewrites the file, so a certificate-based digital signature in it will show as invalid.

What happens to your file

Rotate PDF runs in this browser tab. Your PDF is read and rewritten on your own device and handed back as a download; it is never sent to ConvertFile. We record only that the tool was used (its name and whether it finished), never file names, sizes or contents. Closing the tab discards everything.

If something goes wrong

The page looked right on my phone but is sideways on a computer
Some viewers guess orientation from the text and others obey the page's rotation setting. Rotate the page here and every viewer will show it the same way.
I rotated the page but the photo on it is still sideways
The photo was placed sideways inside an upright page. Rotate that page by 90° anyway; the picture turns with it. If the page itself then sits sideways, use Image to PDF on the original photo instead, which reads the phone's orientation tag.
The file is password-protected
Unlock it first with Unlock PDF and its password, rotate the unlocked copy, and protect it again afterwards if you need to.

Guides

Rotate PDF: common questions

Is Rotate PDF free?
Yes. Rotate PDF is free and works without an account, for files up to 25 MB and 150 pages. A free account raises that to 50 MB and 400 pages.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Rotate PDF runs in your web browser, so the file is read on your own device and never sent to ConvertFile.
Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. Rotation is saved as page information, so text and images are not re-rendered or recompressed.
Does Rotate PDF work on Mac, Windows, Android and iPhone?
Yes. It runs in any modern web browser, with nothing to install. Very large files work best on a desktop or laptop, because in-browser tools use your device's memory.
