Add a PDF, pick the pages to crop (all are selected to start with), type how many millimetres to trim from the top, right, bottom and left, and download. Cropping changes the visible area of the page, which PDF calls the crop box. It doesn't delete anything: the trimmed edges are still in the file and can be restored, so cropping must never be used to hide sensitive information.

Because the content is untouched, the file doesn't get smaller. To shrink it, use Compress PDF. Measured on 1 November 2026 by running this page's code on sample documents we generated ourselves.

Limits

Without an account: files up to 25 MB and 150 pages. With a free account: 50 MB and 400 pages.
The same margins apply to every selected page. Crop in several passes if different pages need different margins.
A crop that would leave a page smaller than half an inch (36 points) in either direction is refused.
Margins are measured from the page as you see it, so a rotated page is trimmed on the edges you expect.

What happens to your file

Crop PDF runs in this browser tab. Your PDF is read and rewritten on your own device and handed back as a download; it is never sent to ConvertFile. We record only that the tool was used (its name and whether it finished), never file names, sizes or contents. Closing the tab discards everything.

If something goes wrong

I cropped out a name but it's still there: That's how cropping works in every PDF tool: the trimmed area is hidden, not removed, and anyone with an editor can bring it back. Use Redact PDF, which deletes the text and images under the box you draw.
The cropped file is no smaller: Nothing was deleted, so the size stays about the same. Compress PDF reduces size by re-encoding images.
The printout still has white edges: Printers scale the cropped page to fit the paper. Turn off Fit to page or choose Actual size in the print dialog.
